Sheikh Hasina (76) arrived in India on August 5 after resigning as prime minister following the dissolution of Parliament by Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin. Sheikh Hasina is currently facing over 75 cases in Bangladesh.
Special Security Force Act 2021 enacted
“Following widespread student and public protests, an interim government has been formed on August 8, 2024, consisting of the chief adviser and other advisers,” the Chief Adviser Office (CAO) said in a statement after a meeting of the Advisory Council on the decision of the previous government. Later, the Special Security Force Act 2021 was implemented. Subsequently, a gazette was issued on May 15, 2015 to provide special security and benefits to Sheikh Hasina and her close relatives under the Act.
