Saharsa, September 14 (HS). An awareness campaign will be run by Kosi Lok Manch in collaboration with Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation to stop the increasing child marriage in Kosi region.

Shyam Rath, Assistant Project Officer of Kosi Lok Manch, said on Saturday that on October 18, street plays and awareness rallies will be organized across the country to stop child marriage. He said that under this campaign, people will be made aware by making them sign affidavits at all Anganwadi centres to stop child marriage.

He said that by going among all the communities of villagers, they would be made aware of the ill effects of child marriage and the damage it causes to the body and life of girls. For this, an appeal would be made to stop child marriage by going among the people of all castes, religions and communities. He said that the government has also made strict laws to stop child marriage. Under which, a provision has been made to take strict action against the wedding party, groom's party and Pandit, Maulvi or Priest and send them to jail if they are caught indulging in child marriage.

He said that tireless efforts are being made to eradicate child labour through Kosi Lok Kala Manch. Along with this, he demanded the formation of new special fast track courts for speedy justice to rape victims. He said that families suffering from child marriage and child labour should raise their voice for justice instead of keeping quiet. He said that Kosi Lok Kala Manch is committed to eradicate inhuman practices like child marriage and child labour.
