Sydney: An Australian female MP has claimed she was drugged and sexually assaulted during a night out. This incident took place on the night of March 27 in his constituency.
In a statement posted on social media site Instagram, Queensland MP Brittany Lauga said she contacted police on the morning of April 28. After which his medical test was done. The test revealed the presence of drugs in his body. He said he never took the drugs found in his body.
Brittany said she reached out to other women in her town during the week. All these women had similar experiences. He further said that we should be able to move freely in our cities without fear of drugs or attacks. According to the police, the incident is being investigated. Along with this, he said that no other woman has filed a complaint in this area.
Queensland Housing Minister Megan Scanlon described Britney's allegations as shocking and appalling. “Britney is a colleague, a friend, and a young woman, and what happened to her deserves a thorough investigation,” he said. Along with this, he said that the government is taking the cases of domestic violence and sexual harassment against women seriously.
