Tehran, 17 February (HS). Jyoti Yaraji broke her national record and won a gold medal in the 60m hurdles at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 on Saturday. Yaraji surprisingly won the gold in the final with a timing of 8.12 seconds.

Yaraji broke her own national record by clocking 8.12 in the final and won India's second gold medal of the competition. Yaraji has now broken the 60 meter hurdles national record six times. Jyoti had set a national record last year with a timing of 8.20 seconds and has broken it four times so far.

Earlier, Harmilan Bains had also won the gold medal in the 1500m final, crossing the finish line with a timing of 4:29.55.

India has already done better last year, when only Jyoti Yaraji returned with a gold medal, having won two gold medals on the first day.
