Ashwini Vaishnav visited Cuttack and informed the artisans about the new scheme.


Bhubaneswar: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav explained in detail the benefits of PM Vishwakarma Yojana to the artists and craftsmen present at the Railway Auditorium here after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on Sunday.

The minister said the beneficiaries of the scheme will get a daily allowance of Rs 500 and a toolkit voucher worth Rs 15,000 during the training. They can purchase modern toolkits with the assistance. The government will also help in branding, packaging and marketing of their products.

Vaishnav advised artists and craftsmen to purchase equipment only from GST registered shops and ensure that the equipment is made-in-India. The scheme will include carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, sculptors, potters, cobblers, tailors, masons, barbers and washermen.

He also interacted with artists and craftsmen and discussed their potential. According to the scheme, beneficiaries can get a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh at very low interest without any guarantee.

Later, the Union Minister took part in the cleanliness campaign by boarding a local train traveling from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack. He interacted with the passengers during the journey to know their feedback. He inspected the cleanliness at Cuttack Railway Station.

Following the request of the local people, Vaishnav also inspected the distressed Marthapur railway station and discussed the development and expansion plan of the station. Lok Sabha MP Aparajita Sarangi and Rajya Sabha member Mujibullah Khan were present in the Railway Auditorium.
