Former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is the fastest player to take 500 Test wickets in world cricket. India's Anil Kumble comes at third place. The name of Australia's great spinner Shane Warne is in fourth place.

Muttiah Muralitharan achieved the feat of completing 500 wickets while bowling in just 144 Test innings. India's R Ashwin has managed to do this after 184 innings. Indian legend Anil Kumble had achieved this special feat in 188 innings. Meanwhile, Australia's Shane Warne completed 500 Test wickets by playing 201 innings.
