As soon as approval is received from the Food Safety Department, a case will be filed against the spice companies

Kanpur, July 28 (HS). After the samples of spice companies operating in the city failed, notices have been issued to the owners and their replies have been sought. A report has been prepared in this matter and sent to the Food Safety and Drugs Department Uttar Pradesh Headquarters Lucknow for sanction of prosecution. As soon as sanction is received, a case will be filed against such companies and a fine will be imposed. This information was given by ADM City Rajesh Kumar on Sunday.

He told that in the month of May 2024, FSDA officials raided the spice companies operating in the city. During the raid, samples of 35 products of different spices of 16 companies were taken and sent to the lab for testing. Reports of 23 of them have come. According to the report, along with insects, pesticides and insecticides have also been found in these spices. Dangerous pesticides and micro bacteria have also been found. Pesticides have also been found in turmeric powder of products of 14 companies sold locally.

Spices of two famous companies fail in the test

Defects have been found in the products of two well-known companies. Garam Masala, Peas Paneer Masala, Coriander Powder have been found to be so defective that they are not fit for consumption. Apart from this, defects have been found in the spice products of a well-known brand. Meat Masala, Vegetable Masala, Biryani Masala have been found contaminated in the test. In this way, insects and contaminated substances have been found in 23 samples of different companies.

Following the instructions of the government, the department took samples of different spice products in the month of May and during the campaign, the department raided 13 spice factories. During this period, samples of 35 spices from different companies were taken for testing and sent to the lab for testing. According to the test report of the samples, carbendazim has been used in the spices.
