Varanasi, 27 August (HS). On Tuesday evening, an old man was crushed by a speeding truck while crossing the road on foot on the highway located at Veerbhanpur in Rajatalab police station area. The old man died in the accident. On the information of the local people, the police chased the truck for about a kilometer and caught the driver along with the vehicle.
The police took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Badri Patel (60), a mason from Veerbhapur, was returning home after finishing his work as usual. After having tea at a shop near the Hanuman temple near his house, Badri was crossing the road on foot. During this time, a truck ran over him. On hearing the news of Badri's death in the accident, family members and neighbors also reached the spot. The wife and two sons of the deceased Badri Patel were inconsolable. Rajatalab police station in-charge Ajit Kumar Verma and town police post in-charge Avinash Kumar Singh, who reached the spot, conducted the Panchnama proceedings of the body in the presence of the family members.
