New York: After the arrest of ISKCON chief Swami Chinmoy Krishna Prabhudas in Bangladesh, there has been a wave of protests across the world. Famous American singer Mary Milben expressed concern over this arrest and requested world leaders to stop atrocities on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
It is well known that Krishnadas was arrested on charges of treason and the court even refused to grant him bail.
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also called the arrest unfair and said that Swami Krishnadas should be released immediately.
In India too, all political parties including the Grand Old Party Congress protested against the arrest of Swami Krishna Prabhudas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was urged to appeal to the Bangladesh government on this issue.
In a post on X, Mary Milbone asked President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump to put pressure on the Mohammad Yunus government of Bangladesh for Swamy’s release.
Milibon wrote in his earlier post that he urges leaders around the world to protest against that arrest. Additionally, I urge President Joe Biden and new President Donald Trump to protect the religious freedom of minorities in Bangladesh as I urge the government of Mohammad Yunus to release Swami Krishna Prabhudas.
Furthermore, the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIDS) strongly criticized human rights violations and attacks on religious minorities and their religious places in Bangladesh.
Since Sheikh Hasina’s resignation on August 5, there have been more than 200 attacks on Hindus and Hindu religious places. FIIS President Khanderao Kand said an independent investigation should be conducted and urged President Biden and President-elect Donald Trump to intervene in the matter.
