America, the world’s biggest superpower, has once again started preparations to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to a Bloomberg report, US President Joe Biden wants to send an invitation to PM Narendra Modi for the state dinner to be held in June this year. It is being said that for this a plan is being finalized in the White House. The report also states that there may be a slight change in the timing of the state dinner.
However, the spokesperson of the National Security Council refused to make any official statement on this. The state dinner event is seen as a showcase of growing US-India ties to the administration’s policies and initiatives in the free Indo-Pacific region as well as China’s growing threat to the region.
India’s prowess will also be seen in the G-20 event
India is going to host the G-20 summit in Delhi in September this year. The main topic of discussion in this program will be Russia’s attack on Ukraine. It is not yet clear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the meeting. At the same time, Joe Biden is also willing to meet PM Narendra Modi during the Quad Summit in May. This meeting is to be held in Australia.
Macron and Suk-yeol attend dinner party
The US President’s dinner party with PM Modi will be the third official visit and state dinner. Earlier in December last year, there were state dinners with French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol in April. Last month, the US and India launched an initiative on critical and emerging technologies. In which it was proposed that advanced defense and computer technology would be exchanged with aircraft engines from the General Electric Company.
India has not been as vocal against Vladimir Putin over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as the US and its allies would like. It is believed that sharing these essential technologies could play a key role in countering Russia’s influence in India, reducing New Delhi’s historical dependence on Moscow for military hardware and reducing China’s growing assertiveness. There is a demand from the leaders of both the political parties of America that relations with PM Modi should be strengthened.
