21-year-old young wrestler Aman Sehrawat performed brilliantly in wrestling and won a bronze medal for India at the Paris Olympics on Friday night. This is India's first medal in wrestling at the Paris Olympics. Aman, who is participating in the Olympics for the first time, remains the only Indian challenge in the men's category. Aman became the eighth Indian wrestler to win a medal in Olympic history. With this, Aman Sehrawat has also become India's youngest medalist to win an Olympic medal.
India got another medal in Paris Olympics. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat won the sixth medal for India in Paris Olympics by defeating Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico in the men's freestyle 57 kg wrestling event on Friday night. Sehrawat defeated 2023 Pan American Games bronze medalist Darian Cruz 13-5. This is India's first medal in wrestling in Paris Olympics 2024. India has so far won a total of one silver and five bronze medals, including three in shooting and one in men's hockey.
At 21, Sehrawat is the youngest Indian to win an Olympic medal. He is the only male wrestler from the country to qualify for Paris 2024. Aman won bronze at the 2022 Asian Games and gold at the 2022 Under-23 World Championships. With this bronze medal, the country has won a total of eight medals in wrestling so far. Earlier, Indian wrestlers had won five bronze and two silver medals, including Ravi Dahiya's second-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Let us tell you that Aman lost his parents at the age of 11. Before leaving this world, his father admitted Aman to Chhatrasal Stadium in 2013. Perhaps he knew that one day his son would achieve a big achievement for the country. Aman looked very emotional after winning the medal for the country. He said that my parents also wanted me to become a wrestler. Although they did not know anything about the Olympics, they still wanted to see me become a wrestler.
This medal of peace also acts as a balm for the controversy with Vinesh Phogat. With this, the total number of medals of India in the Paris Olympics has gone up to six. Aman, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, defeated Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico by a margin of 13-5 in the bronze medal match of the 57 kg category.
