Malaria Vaccine: Adar Poonawala, Chief Executive Officer of Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturing company, said that after the Corona vaccine, the company will now focus on making malaria vaccine. For this the company has increased its production capacity.

Production of anti-coronavirus vaccine decreased

Serum Institute manufactures Covishield vaccine of Corona. Due to lack of demand, the production of anti-coronavirus vaccine has now been reduced. The company will now utilize its full capacity for the production of malaria vaccine.

Vaccination will be done across the country in three to four months

Poonawala said that if the pandemic ever spreads in future, vaccination can be done across India in just three to four months. He said that Serum has the capacity to make 10 crore doses of malaria vaccine. It can be increased further if demand increases.

Millions of people are poached every year

Every year lakhs of people become victims of dengue and malaria. Poonawala said that instead of technology transfer deal on malaria vaccine, emphasis will be given on vaccine export. Dengue vaccine is also being tested.
