Actor Siddharth has apologized for the controversial remarks made to badminton player Saina Nehwal.

Bollywood actor Siddharth has apologized for his controversial remarks made against badminton player Saina Nehwal. Recently, Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to express concern over PM Modi’s convoy being stopped for some 20 minutes at a flyover in Punjab’s Bathinda as the road was blocked by protesting farmers last week.

Taking a jibe at Saina Nehwal, Siddharth had made a controversial tweet. Now the Rang De Basanti actor has apologized to Saina Nehwal through social media. Siddharth Shukla has shared an apology on his official Twitter account. In this apology, he has apologized to the badminton player for his bad joke.

Siddharth wrote in his apology, ‘Dear Saina, I want to apologize to you for my lewd joke, which I wrote while reacting to your tweet a few days ago. I can disagree with you on many things. But my frustration or anger after reading your tweet, cannot justify my tone and words. If a joke needs to be explained, it is not even a joke. So I apologize for my joke.

Siddharth further wrote in his apology, ‘I should have insisted on my choice of words and jokes. This tweet was not done with any malicious intent, for which so many people from all walks of life have blamed it. I myself am a staunch feminist supporter and I can assure you that there was no gender indication in my tweets and certainly no intention to attack you as a woman.’

At the end of the apology, Siddharth wrote, ‘Hopefully you will forget all these things and accept this apology of mine. You will always be my champion. Let us tell you that in the past, Saina Nehwal had written in her tweet regarding the security of PM Modi, ‘No nation can claim to be safe on its own, if the security of its own Prime Minister is compromised. I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists. India is with Modi.

Responding to this tweet by Saina Nehwal, Siddharth wrote that the world’s smallest ***** champion … thank God we have India’s defenders. At the same time, on this whole matter, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women wrote a letter to Twitter India, demanding that Saina Nehwal block actor Siddharth’s Twitter account immediately. Also ordered to register an FIR. The Women’s Commission has called Siddharth’s tweet anti-women and derogatory.
