Kanpur, July 25 (HS). On Thursday, the cyber cell of Cyber Police Station Kanpur arrested a fraudster of Rs 1.80 crore from Nagpur. Legal action was taken against the accused and he was sent to jail.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Ashish Srivastava said that Chandrashekhar Nathuji Bhujade, a resident of Nagpur, has been arrested by the team.
In this regard, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Navsheel Apartment in the Cantt police station area of Kanpur, informed the cyber police station on June 20 that he had been cheated of Rs 1 crore 80 lakh by adding him to an investment group on Telegram. Based on the information, a case was immediately registered at the cyber police station. The police have arrested the cheated account holder from Nagpur.
Investigation revealed that cyber thugs sitting in Armenia had leased the account of a Nagpur man by paying him Rs 4 lakh. Not only this, the mastermind of the vicious gang is running the gang from Armenia. The gang also has a network in Ahmedabad, Pune and Telangana. It was alleged that he was added to a WhatsApp group named Apollo VIP Group Study by luring him with huge profits in share investment. After this, he was made to download an app named Apollo Lemma and started investing in shares through it. From 18 April 2024 to 24 May 2024, he was made to deposit Rs 1.80 crore. In the app, he was seeing an increase of about Rs 5 crore on an investment of Rs 1.80 crore. But, when he tried to withdraw the money, he came to know that he had been cheated.
