Moradabad, 29 July (HS). A father and son were hit by a train while trying to save their son's life on the Govind Nagar railway track in Katghar police station area. The father died on the spot. The injured son Manoj also died in the district hospital on Monday afternoon. Amarnath (61), a resident of Mohalla Mahbullaganj in Katghar police station area, worked as a cobbler. His son Rohit said that his brother Manoj worked as a confectioner.
Let us tell you that when Manoj came home drunk, his father scolded him. Angered by this, he left the house saying that he would commit suicide. Fearing something untoward, his father Amarnath also followed him. Manoj sat down near the railway track under the bridge near Govindnagar crossing. When the train came, he tried to jump in front of it, then his father Amarnath tried to save him. Both of them got hit by the train while trying to remove each other from the railway track.
Amarnath died on the spot in the accident, while Manoj was injured. He was admitted to the district hospital. Manoj also died in the hospital on Monday afternoon. The death of father and son has caused an uproar in the family. Katghar police station SHO Sanjay Kumar said that after conducting Manoj's post-mortem, his body was handed over to the family this evening.
