Violence against Hindus erupted in neighboring Bangladesh after the resignation of former PM Sheikh Hasina. Demonstrations were held in Toronto, Canada. Canadians of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and Jewish origin gathered in Toronto and protested shouting slogans of “Justice, Justice”.

Call for protection of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a message on social media on Thursday. The message called for the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Professor Mohammad Yunus was congratulated on assuming the new responsibility. Apart from this, he expressed hope that the situation in Bangladesh will become normal.
Hindus make up about eight percent of Bangladesh's 170 million population
Thousands of Bangladeshi Hindus are fleeing to India from neighbouring Bangladesh to escape the violence. Hindus make up about eight per cent of Bangladesh's 170 million population. The Hindus traditionally support Hasina's Awami League party. It has come under fire after violent clashes between anti-reservation protesters and security forces last month.
