Lima: A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Peru in South America today, Friday. Giving this information, the United States Geological Survey says that despite the relatively strong earthquake, there is no possibility of a tsunami. However, when this earthquake occurred this morning, it seemed that a tsunami might occur, but thankfully it did not happen. Therefore, the tsunami warning issued earlier was withdrawn. Before this warning, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had issued the first tsunami warning.
Peru, with a population of about 3.3 million, is located in the famous Pacific Ring of Fire. This name has been given due to the volcanoes found on the eastern and western coasts of the Pacific Ocean. Although small and big earthquakes keep occurring in Peru every year, some of them are so weak that the general public does not even notice them, but most of the earthquakes shake the buildings. However, there is no news of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake.
