Meerut, 04 September (HS). The anger of the people of Nagar Nigam's Ward 60 Phoolbagh Colony burst out on Wednesday over the electricity problem. People staged a sit-in protest at the Energy Bhawan located in Victoria Park and warned of a fierce agitation if electricity is not provided.
Under the leadership of BJP councilor of Municipal Corporation's ward 60 Rekha Singh and former councilor Neeraj Thakur, people of Phoolbagh Colony reached Urja Bhawan on Wednesday and sat on a dharna. People said that the dilapidated electricity poles and dilapidated electricity wires in the area can cause a big accident anytime. Even after complaining, the power officials are silent. Due to dilapidated wires, the electricity supply is getting interrupted again and again. The officials of the electricity department are waiting for an accident. Until an accident happens, the officials will not wake up. People created a ruckus and demanded to solve the problem.
The police reached the spot and tried to pacify the people, but the people did not listen. The people warned the electricity department officials to go on a hunger strike at the Energy Bhawan if the problem was not resolved within 48 hours. Sanjay Kumar, Vipin Sharma, Ranjan Singh, Sushma, Rajwati, Anjali etc. were present on this occasion.
