Former head coach Rahul Dravid, who led the Indian team to victory in the T20 World Cup, has been appointed as the head coach by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025. Dravid resigned from the post of head coach only after Team India won the World T20 in June this year. Since then, he was expected to join the IPL team.
According to a report, Dravid has signed a deal with the Rajasthan Royals franchise, and has also spoken to the franchise about retaining players in the mega auction to be held later this year. Dravid has a good relationship with Rajasthan Royals and team captain Sanju Samson. Dravid has worked with this team before and has played many important roles. This includes everyone from captains to team directors and advisors.
Dravid had a wonderful tenure
After this, Dravid joined Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2016. After doing so much in the IPL, he again got a chance to serve the country and in 2019 he was appointed the head of the National Cricket Academy. He was made the head coach of Team India for two years and held this position for three years. The team achieved immense success under Dravid's supervision. The golden period of his tenure came when Team India won the T20 World Cup this year and ended the 11-year drought of winning an ICC tournament.
Vikram Rathod can also get responsibility
It is also believed that Rajasthan Royals is also going to sign former Indian batting coach Vikram Rathod. Rathod has also worked with Dravid at the NCA. After this, he was made the batting coach of Team India in 2019. It is being said that he will be posted as the batting coach of the team, while team director Kumar Sangakkara will continue to handle his responsibilities. Now he will also be responsible for the Paarl Royals in SA20 and the Barbados Royals team in the Caribbean Premier League.
