In Paris Paralympics 2024, Indian para-athletes have achieved such a feat within 6 days, which has never happened before. In fact, by touching the figure of 20 medals in Paris, India has created a new history of winning the most medals in a Paralympic Games. India now has a total of 20 medals in its account. These include 3 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 10 bronze medals.
Before Paris, India had set a record for winning the most medals at the Paralympic Games at Tokyo 2020. India won a total of 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. But now in the first 6 days in Paris, Indian para-athletes have broken the record for their best performance in the history of the Paralympic Games.
India has won medals in 4 sports so far in Paris Paralympics, out of which the maximum 10 medals have come from athletics. Along with this, 5 medals have come in badminton and 4 in shooting. One medal has come in archery. On 3 September, i.e. the sixth day, India won 5 medals. Deepti Jeevanji, Sharad Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu, Ajit Singh and Sundar Gurjar won these medals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the medal winners on the sixth day. Deepti is an inspiration to countless people, he wrote on his Twitter account after winning the bronze medal. Her talent and perseverance are commendable. The Prime Minister also congratulated several athletes over the phone.
