Israeli attackers and protesters demand Gaza settlement: Israel is on the “brink” after Hamas killed six hostages. Thousands of protesters gathered in the streets of Tel Aviv on Sunday and chanted “now, now and now” (ceasefire) to demand the release of the hostages, calling on Prime Minister Netanyahu to call a ceasefire and release the remaining hostages.
Sunday's protests were the most widespread in the last 11 months. Protesters later surrounded Netanyahu's office and blocked all roads leading to the office by staging a sit-in, marking a temporary ceasefire to free hostages in the 11-month-old war. Not only this, protesters walked around Tel Aviv's airport and sat down, but at the same time, forced the closure of Tel Aviv's airport – Ben Gurion International Airport – by blocking the runway.
The protesters were not only in Tel Aviv, there were massive demonstrations in other cities of Israel as well. They were putting pressure on the Israeli government to accept Hamas' ceasefire proposal and release the hostages.
Among those reportedly killed by Hamas was 23-year-old Jewish-American, Harsh Goldberg Polin. When this news came out, US Vice President Kamala Harris became very angry and directly threatened to destroy Hamas.
It was further revealed that six of the six people killed by Hamas were shot at close range. This was revealed by the postmortem report of their bodies. The fighting had stopped until the bodies of the six were retrieved.
However, the conditions set for the release of the other detainees are as follows. (1) Israel must withdraw all its forces from Gaza and the West Bank. (This means that both the entire Gaza Strip and the West Bank will be directly occupied by Hamas.) Palestinians are held by Israel, including top Hamas leader Izzat al-Rishq. If Israel wants to release them and the remaining (Hamas) detainees, Israel must also accept ceasefire proposals presented by the US that are acceptable to Hamas.
