Honolulu police officer Deanna Thomas said that according to witnesses, the 58-year-old man used a 'front-end loader' machine to ram the car and enter the house where the family was gathering. According to Thomas, the man opened fire on the people gathered at the house, killing three women living in Waianae. The city of Waianae is located about 48 kilometers west of Honolulu. At the same time, a 42-year-old man living in the house shot the suspect, she said in a press conference.

The women who died were 34, 36 and 29 years old. He said a 31-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were taken to hospital in critical condition.
