Kangana's film has been mired in controversies even before its release. The controversy over the film is constantly increasing. Kangana Ranaut has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film. She is also a director. Due to the ongoing controversy over the film, the release of the film is also in danger. Due to which the release of the film has been postponed for the time being. Kangana Ranaut had said that the film has not received approval from the Censor Board. Because the members of the board are also receiving threats.

The special thing is that Kangana's film was earlier scheduled to release on 6 September, but now the film has been postponed. Amidst this entire controversy, Kangana shared a post on the social media platform and said that rumors are spreading about her film Emergency that she has got the censor board certification but this is not true. Approval was received but certification has been stopped because the members of the censor board are receiving death threats. There is pressure on the censor board not to show Indira Gandhi's assassination, Bhindranwale and Punjab riots in the film.

Importantly, Emergency is a political drama film that revolves around the life and tenure of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. Kangana Ranaut will be seen in the role of Indira Gandhi in the film and Shreyas Talpade will be seen in the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the film. Apart from this, Anupam Kher is playing the role of Jayaprakash Narayan. Mahima Chaudhary will also be seen in an important role in this film.
