IPL 2025 Rules: The BCCI has started preparations for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Retention rules can be announced soon. At present, the BCCI is considering two important rules for the domestic and IPL seasons. A mega auction is scheduled to be held later this year before IPL 2025. At that time, the discussion of changing two rules in the BCCI, two bouncers in an over and the impact player rule, had gained momentum.
At present, the BCCI has not taken any decision. Should the two-bouncer rule be retained in domestic T20 cricket and IPL. The BCCI is reconsidering this. These rules may be applicable especially in the men's T20 interstate competition, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The two-bouncer rule was introduced in domestic cricket last season and then in the IPL. This allowed bowlers to effectively use a second bouncer in an over.
Only 1 bouncer is allowed in international cricket. 2 bouncers in an over is against ICC rules. The BCCI is currently reviewing this rule. The BCCI's delay in announcing the rules of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has been a persistent problem. Although the board had assured to announce the rules soon, it did not happen. The BCCI said in a message sent to the state units on August 5 that the rules for men's T20 matches will be announced soon. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is scheduled to start in November.
The impact player rule remains a controversial topic among cricket fans and experts. Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan recently supported this rule and said, 'There has been a lot of discussion about the impact player rule. I am saying on record that I am with this rule. It has given a chance to many Indian talents.'
