Veteran Indian team opener Shikhar Dhawan entered Team India in 2010. After leading the team's opening batting for 12 years, he announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on 24 August. After retirement, Dhawan himself has made a shocking revelation. The veteran opener said in an interview that he is very jealous of India's current vice-captain Shubhman Gill. Everyone was shocked by his revelation. Dhawan has also given a big reason behind this.
Why is Dhawan jealous of Shubhman?
Shikhar Dhawan dominated the Indian team. He along with Rohit Sharma won many important matches for the team. His performance in the ICC tournament was particularly good. However, after the arrival of Shubhman Gill in 2019, his importance gradually started decreasing. Gill first made a place in the ODI team, then became a regular member of the Test team in 2020. During this time he scored many centuries. So Shubhman Gill started being compared to Virat Kohli.
On the other hand, Dhawan gradually started staying out of the team. He did not score a single century. After retirement, he himself admitted that he was jealous of Gill, because he had already made a place in 2 formats and was scoring many centuries. When he was playing in only one format and was stuck at half-centuries. However, later the 'Gabbar' of Team India accepted Gill's performance and advocated giving him a chance himself. Fans also went crazy after hearing this honest answer of Dhawan.
Dhawan will play in Legends League
Shikhar Dhawan may have retired, but his fans need not be disappointed. He will still be seen playing cricket. The third season of Legends League Cricket will be organized from September 20, in which 6 teams will participate. Dhawan has joined the Gujarat team in this league of retired cricketers. In this league, he can be seen opening with Chris Gayle.
