Italy's Jannik Sinner recorded his 50th win of the season as the US Open tennis Grand Slam witnessed thrilling results every day as Yanis Sinner and Iga Swiatek entered the third round of their respective categories with easy wins.
On the other hand, former champions Naomi Osaka and Carlos Alcaraz suffered defeat. Swiatek, who has won five Grand Slams in her career, defeated Japanese qualifier Anna Shibahara 6-0, 6-1. The match was played for just 65 minutes. Janis Sinner, who recently got a clean chit in the doping controversy, defeated Alex Michelson 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 after a struggle of one hour and 39 minutes in the men's singles match. Italy's Sinner achieved his 50th victory of the season. Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev defeated Marozsan 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), Thomas Machac continued his campaign with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win over 16th seed Sebastian Korda.
Two-time US Open women's singles champion Naomi Osaka also failed to advance beyond the second round. Jasmine Paolini of Italy reached the third round after Karolina Pliskova withdrew from the Grand Slam with a foot injury. In other matches, former champion Carolina Wozniacki of Denmark defeated Zarazu 6-3, 6-3, sixth seed American Jessica Pegula defeated compatriot Sofia Kanin 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, Anastasia Pavlyuchenko defeated Elisabetta Coccoreto 5- 7, 6-1, 6-2 to advance her campaign.
