KDA and Municipal Corporation coordinate to remove illegal encroachments: Mayor | News India

Kanpur, August 30 (HS). Many ponds are recorded on paper in the metropolitan area, but the ground reality is different. The land mafia has filled up these ponds recorded on paper and sold them by illegal plotting. There are only a few ponds left in the city and the land mafia has its eyes on them too. In such a situation, Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) and Municipal Corporation should coordinate with each other and remove all illegal encroachments and empty the ponds. Mayor Pramila Pandey said this in the meeting of KDA and Municipal Corporation on Friday.

A meeting was held between the Municipal Corporation and KDA officials on Friday regarding the illegal encroachments on the ponds in Kanpur city and the encroachments on the Municipal Corporation's land. While chairing this meeting, Mayor Pramila Pandey said that there was a time when there used to be many ponds in the city and these ponds are still recorded in the papers, but at present most of the ponds have disappeared. All these ponds have been captured and sold by land mafias and KDA has also passed the maps of such lands. The KDA administration has not paid any attention to this, and at many places the existing land of the Municipal Corporation has also been captured by encroachers.

The mayor said that the Municipal Corporation and KDA administration should coordinate with each other and get information about the occupied lands and take possession of them, only then will the general public be able to get basic facilities. Similarly, on the matter of an ancient temple present in Sisamau, the mayor said that it was a very old temple. There was a dispute between two parties regarding its possession. One party says that there was never a temple here, while the other party says that an old temple exists here and idols of Ashtadhatu were also present in it, but at present those idols have disappeared. The Municipal Corporation administration will take action in this matter and soon the matter will be investigated and the temple will be reconstructed.
