Ramakant Achrekar Statue: Ramakant Achrekar, coach of the great Indian batsman and God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar, will be honoured. In a major decision, the Maharashtra government announced to install a statue of Sachin's childhood coach Ramakant Achrekarji in Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
Ramakant Achrekar was Tendulkar's childhood coach. Ramakant Achrekar played an important role from the beginning to the end of the great cricketer's career. He trained Tendulkar in his childhood and also trained many other players from Mumbai who represented the country at the international level. Now the Maharashtra government has announced to build a Ramakant Achrekar memorial in Shivaji Park in his honor.
Sachin praised:
Welcoming the government's decision, Sachin said- Achrekar Sir has had a great impact on my life and many others. I am speaking on behalf of all his students. His life revolved around cricket at Shivaji Park. It must have always been his wish to live in Shivaji Park and the government has tried to pay a true tribute to him through this memorial. I am very happy with the government's decision to install his statue at Achrekar Sir's karmabhoomi.
The statue will be six feet high:
On Wednesday, the Maharashtra government announced to build a six-feet tall statue in memory of Achrekar. This memorial of Achrekarji will be installed near Gate No. 5 of Shivaji Park. The proposal has been approved by the Urban Development Department of the Maharashtra government. According to the proposal, the statue will be maintained by the V Kamath Memorial Cricket Club, but the important thing is that the maintenance of the memorial will not get any financial assistance from the state.
