Ghaziabad, 29 August (HS). A scrap dealer raped a minor girl on Thursday in Link Road police station area. After getting the news of the incident, the police arrested the accused but since the accused belonged to another community, Hindu organizations created a ruckus at the police station. Not only this, the protesting people sat on a dharna and also vandalized the place, after which the police lathi-charged the people.

ACP Sahibabad Rajneesh Upadhyay said that a person gave a complaint to the Link Road police station that a person working as a scrap dealer has raped his minor daughter after assaulting her. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, a team was dispatched to arrest the accused. The accused has been arrested and legal action is being taken against him. The victim has been sent for medical examination. The ACP said that strict action will be taken in the case and the victim will be given justice.

Ashish Pal, national vice president of Hindu Parivar Gauraksha Dal, said that the incident took place on Tuesday night. The girl was first raped and then beaten up in Brij Vihar Chowki area. The accused runs a junk shop. It is alleged that anti-social elements gather near the junk shop, which raises questions on police security. Pal alleged that if police patrolling had been going on in that area, perhaps the anti-social elements would not have gathered at the junk shop and the police would have taught them a lesson before the incident. He said that if the police does not take proper action, we will be forced to go to the Police Commissioner's office.
