Prayagraj, 29 August (HS). National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir on the birth anniversary of Hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand. Indian Bank's Field General Manager Naveen Kumar Srivastava and Principal Alpana Day inaugurated the program. The Principal explained the importance of National Sports Day to the students and said that sports are the best medium to keep both body and mind healthy.
The competition was held in two phases. Basketball match was organised between students of Patanjali Impresses and Patanjali Valkyries team. In which Valkyries team, led by Captain Maanvi Singh, won the match. Students' basketball teams 'Thunders' and 'Hoopers' competed against each other, in which 'Hoopers team', led by Captain Vinayak Mishra, won the match. In the volleyball match of students, 'Volleywarriors team', led by Captain Rudransh Maurya, emerged victorious. In the volleyball match of girls, in the match between 'Queen Spikers' and 'Serve Surge', 'Queen Spikers' team, led by Captain Samridhi Yadav, emerged victorious.
In the students' badminton under-14 match between the teams 'Roadies' and 'Dare Devils', students Shrestha Singh and Shreyas of the 'Roadies' team won the match. Shivanti and Diksha were the winners in the under-17 girls' badminton match. In the under-17 boys' badminton match, Avahan and Parth Saxena won the match and got the gold medal. In the high jump under-14 match, student Amrat Singh and student Deepti Singh won the match and got the gold medal. Shruti Yadav won the gold medal in the high jump under-17 match.
The school's secretary Dr Krishna Gupta while wishing the students, motivated them towards sports. The principal told the students the importance of National Sports Day and said that sports is the best medium to keep both body and mind healthy. She congratulated all the winners and thanked all the people present. On this occasion, the school's principals, in-charge of junior and senior classes Mriganayani Arya, Gopa Bhattacharya, Padmavati Pandey and Vaishakhi Ghosh, teachers and all the students were present.
