Lucknow, 29 August (HS). In the past few days, the judiciary of the country has issued many instructions to break the morale of the advocates, which is not appropriate. The reason for delay in justice is the low number of judges, irregularities in revenue courts, lack of basic facilities for advocates and indifference in work by judicial officers. This was said by Prashant Singh Atal, member and former president of the State Bar Council of UP.
Prashant Singh Atal further said that it is not right to blame the advocate community for the delay in justice. Sending condolence messages on the death of an advocate brother and attending his funeral is the fundamental right of advocates. It is not right for the judiciary to make any comment on this.
Issuing a letter, he said that the advocate community is an independent and ideal profession, which has always worked as a protector of justice from independence till the fight for emergency. When during the emergency, the judiciary of this country surrendered before the then Prime Minister who murdered democracy, even at that time the advocates fought and thousands of advocates went to jail. Therefore, no one's oppression on the independent profession of advocates is acceptable. We are members of a responsible community.
The former President of the Bar Council said that the Honourable Supreme Court and the Honourable High Court are requested to increase the number of judges for speedy justice, fill up the vacant posts, and make immediate efforts for the basic facilities of the advocates so that there is no delay in justice.
