Paris, August 29 (HS). Indian para badminton players Sukant Kadam, Tarun Dhillon and Suhas Yathiraj made a good start by winning the para badminton men's singles SL4 group matches at the Paris Paralympic Games on Thursday.
Sukant Kadam defeated Malaysia's Mohammad Amin Burhanuddin 17-21, 21-15, 22-20 in the Para Badminton Men's Singles SL4 Group Stage B match. At the same time, 41-year-old Suhas Yathiraj won by defeating Indonesia's Hikmat Ramdani 21-7, 21-5 in the Para Badminton Men's Singles SL4 Group Stage A. Tarun Dhillon defeated Brazil's Oliveira Rogerio Junior Xavier 21-17, 21-19 in the Men's Singles SL4 Group Stage D match.
Apart from these, para badminton player Nitesh Kumar defeated compatriot Manoj Sarkar 21-13, 18-21, 21-18 in the men's singles SL3 group stage A match. Manoj will next face Bansun Mongkhonse of Thailand on August 30, while Nitesh will face Yang Jianyuan of China.
Mandeep and Mansi lost in the group stage match of women's singles
Para players Mandeep Kaur and Mansi Joshi lost in the women's singles group stage match. Mansi won the first game against Indonesia's Konitah Ikhtiar Sayakuroh in the Para Badminton Women's Singles SL3 Group Stage A, but lost the next two games. She lost the match 21-16, 13-21, 18-21. Similarly, Mandeep Kaur lost 8-21, 14-21 to Nigeria's Mariam Eniola Bolaji in the Women's Singles SL3 Group Stage B match.
