Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan has become the mentor of IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka gave this information in a press conference in Kolkata. He also said about the team captain KL Rahul that he is like a family member.

Zaheer era has now begun in Lucknow. Team owner Sanjeev Goenka said that Zaheer is an expert in making strategies. This will benefit the team. Meanwhile, when Sanjeev was asked about the list of retained players, he said that there is still a lot of time to talk about retained and released players. Any decision will be taken only after discussion.

Before Zaheer, Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of LSG in the 2022 season. Gambhir became the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023, after which the post of LSG mentor was vacant. The post of bowling coach is currently vacant in Lucknow. The team's previous bowling coach Morne Markal has joined Team India. In such a situation, Zaheer can also play the role of bowling coach along with mentor. Zaheer was the cricket director of Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022.

Zaheer Khan appointed as mentor

Let us tell you that Zaheer Khan has played for three teams in IPL as a player. He has been a part of Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils. Zaheer has experience of 100 IPL matches. He took 102 wickets in 100 matches. He played his last IPL match in 2017. Zaheer Khan will join the coaching staff along with LSG head coach Justin Langer. Zaheer Khan has played 92 Tests, 200 ODIs and 17 T20 matches for India. He has 311 Test, 282 ODI and 17 T20 wickets to his name.
