Now the names of some railway stations in Amethi district have been changed. However, this decision has not been taken by the UP government but by the Railway Ministry. The Railway Department has given permission to change the names of eight major railway stations in Amethi district. These eight railway stations have been named after local mythological places and great men.
Which stations were renamed?
Jais station has been renamed as Guru Gorakhnath Dham. Akbarganj station has now been renamed as Maa Ahorva Bhavani Dham. Fursatganj railway station has been renamed as Tapeshwar Dham, Warisganj halt station has been renamed as Amar Shaheed Bhagya Sultan. Nihalgarh station will now be renamed as Maharaja Bijli Pasi station, Bani railway station will be renamed as Swami Paramhans station, Misrauli station will be renamed as Maa Kalikan Dham. Whereas, Kasimpur halt station has been renamed as Jais City.

Pratapgarh was renamed as Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction and Antu was renamed as Maa Chandrika Devi Dham Antu. At the same time, Bishnathganj was renamed as Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj.
