In this connection, a one-day workshop was organized at the district's Pothia Community Health Center on Tuesday with the aim of strengthening and sensitizing the family planning program.
In the workshop organized, ASHA workers of the Community Health Center, GNM and ANM working in the delivery room of the PHC, family planning counselors, block community motivators, block health managers and community health officers participated. In the workshop, the Medical Officer in Charge of Pothiya said that family planning is the basis of happiness and prosperity of a family. It enables us to control and limit the size of our family.
He said that it also gives freedom to have a child after being physically, mentally and financially capable. Along with population stabilization, it is also very useful for better health of the mother and controlling maternal mortality. For the healthy life of children and controlling infant mortality, a delay of two years in having the first child after marriage and a gap of at least three years between two children is necessary.
