Saharsa, August 27 (HS). Regarding the progress of the Digital Sakhi program, Apoorva Rathore, Company Secretary and Chief Sustainability Officer at LTF, said, “The aim of this project is to financially empower rural communities and especially women by bridging the digital divide.
The project was launched in Supaul district of Bihar in the financial year 2023-24. Through this, 100 digital Sakhis prepared 600 women entrepreneurs and benefited more than 1.25 lakh members in 100 villages. After success in Supaul district, we are now expanding the Digital Sakhi project to Saharsa district. Our goal is to train 100 women and prepare them as Digital Sakhi. These Digital Sakhis will reach four hundred villages by the end of 2028 and empower more than five lakh people. These Digital Sakhis will not only educate communities about digital financial inclusion, various initiatives of the government and their benefits, but will also identify at least 1,000 rural women entrepreneurs and empower them to take their small businesses forward strongly. This project will be operated through BAIF Development Research Foundation, the existing agency of LTF in Bihar.
In fact, this project was started by the company in 2017. Since then, more than 1,770 women have been trained as digital Sakhis through this. These digital Sakhis have benefited more than 45 lakh people and empowered more than 14,000 women entrepreneurs by providing skills. Earlier this month, the Digital Sakhi program was expanded to Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, this project is currently actively running in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
