Russia–Ukraine War : The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for the last two and a half years. Today (26 August), Russia has taken a major action in this war and carried out deadly missile and drone attacks in many cities of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also confirmed this.
What did Zelensky say?
Zelensky confirmed the Russian attack and said, 'Russia has used more than 100 missiles and more than 100 drones. Which has caused massive destruction. However, the Ukrainian army is also advancing in the Kursk region of Russia.' On the other hand, the Russian army has also captured a large area of land in eastern Ukraine. Due to which the transport hub Pokrovsk has been closed.
Meanwhile, Zelensky has also appealed to his allies to continue supplying air defense systems and more missiles. He said, 'Countries supporting Ukraine should enter into a joint air defense agreement. So that Russian drones and missiles can be destroyed simultaneously in the air. This time when Russia attacked Ukraine, most of the targets were power supply grids and power stations.'
Where and what did Russia target?
Russian missiles and drones targeted power substations in Kiev, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Kirovograd and Odessa, as well as gas compressor stations and gas transport systems in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kharkiv. Airports and weapons depots in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions were also targeted.
Big loss to Ukraine
After the attack, large areas of Ukraine are without electricity. Ukraine's air defense system shot down 15 Russian missiles and drones. However, Russia's attack was so powerful that it damaged many cities of Ukraine.
Russia has claimed that, 'Our drones and missiles have hit the target accurately. There is no electricity supply in many places in Ukraine, railway transport has stopped and weapons depots have also been blown up.'
Zelensky called Putin a sick person
Meanwhile, Zelensky has called Russian President Vladimir Putin a sick person on his Telegram channel and expressed his condolences to those killed in the attack. On the other hand, Putin also issued a statement saying, 'There will be no negotiations now. Ukraine will get the right answer.'
