Kaithal, 26 August (HS). Police on Monday arrested two fraudsters who duped people of lakhs of rupees by luring them to earn money by reviewing tasks on mobile. Both of them have been sent to judicial custody in the court.
Rajat, a resident of Rajendra Seth Colony, Kaithal, had complained to the police that on April 24, the unknown accused added him to a WhatsApp group. He was given three Google Map review tasks. He was told that he would get Rs 150 for completing them. After completing the task, the screenshots were to be shared in the group itself. He completed the task and shared the screenshots in the group. After that, the group admin messaged him and asked for his details and gave him a payment code and a Telegram link. Clicking on this link connected him to a Telegram handle named Arushi.
Arushi introduced herself as the business manager and asked him to confirm the details. After that Rs 150 was credited to his account. On the pretext of getting different reviews done and withdrawing his earned amount of Rs 5 lakh, the accused got Rs 4 lakh 73 thousand deposited in their account. Later neither did they give him the money he earned nor did they return the Rs 4 lakh 73 thousand given by him. While investigating the case, ASI Vinod Kumar of Cyber Crime Police arrested the accused Sunny and Sumit Bhatti, residents of village Karauli, district Faridabad. Rs 10 thousand were recovered from the possession of both the accused.
