Ghaziabad, 26 August (HS). Former Dhaulana MLA Aslam Chaudhary, who was arrested by the police from Roorkee on Sunday, was released after getting interim bail from the court on Monday. The interim bail has been granted till Tuesday.
The court had recently issued a non-bailable warrant against Aslam Chaudhary in the case of demanding extortion of Rs 2 crore. The hearing of the case was going on in the MP-MLA court. Aslam Chaudhary was elected MLA from BSP. Later he joined the Samajwadi Party. He contested the last assembly elections from the Samajwadi Party.
He is accused that on 7 September 2022, he, along with his associates, tried to occupy land worth crores through a fake agreement. It is alleged that Rs 2 crore was demanded from the land owner Adil Yamin in exchange for giving up this possession. On 3 September 2023, the Police Commissioner took cognizance of the matter and lodged a report in this regard, on the basis of which the police filed a charge sheet and the court issued a non-bailable warrant against Aslam Chaudhary and his associates. After that, Mussoorie police station arrested him from Roorkee on Sunday.
Aslam Chaudhary was presented in the court of Duty Magistrate Adarsh Kumar on Monday afternoon. Where Aslam Chaudhary's lawyer filed a bail application. Victim's lawyer Anees Chaudhary opposed the bail. Anees Chaudhary said that the court has granted interim bail to Aslam Chaudhary till tomorrow.
On the other hand, ACP Naresh Kumar said that a total of 29 criminal cases are registered against Aslam Chaudhary.
