Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (HS): After winning the bronze medal at the recently-concluded Paris Olympics, the Indian men's hockey team held a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday to celebrate their medal win at the Summer Games.

At the Paris Olympics, the Indian men's hockey team made its name in the history by winning two consecutive bronze medals at the Olympics for the first time in 52 years.

The Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian men's hockey team won two consecutive bronze medals at the Olympics for the first time in 52 years after a 2-1 win over Spain.

Earlier, the Odisha government had announced a cash reward of Rs 4 crore for Amit Rohidas. Apart from this, each player of the Indian hockey team will get Rs 15 lakh, while the support staff will be given Rs 10 lakh each.

Under the guidance of coach Craig Fulton, India created history by winning two consecutive bronze medals at the Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh (30′, 33′) scored two goals as India defeated Spain 2-1 to win the medal. Marc Miralles (18′) scored the only goal for Spain.

India won consecutive bronze hockey medals for the first time in 52 years since the 1972 Munich Games. Harmanpreet Singh emerged as the top scorer of the tournament, scoring 10 goals in eight matches. India finished 71st in the Paris Olympics medal tally, while the United States topped the list with a total of 126 medals.
