Araria 17 August (HS). The news of two important bridges falling prey to corruption in Araria was continuously in the headlines. The district administration and the rural works department have taken seriously the matter of the approach road not being built after the construction of the bridge and traffic being carried out through the damaged bridge. The way has been opened for the construction of the approach road of the bridge that fell prey to corruption for years. The rural works department has removed all the obstacles in the case of the approach road of the bridge built at a cost of Rs. 3 crore 43 lakh at Majgama of Jokihat in Araria not being built even in eight years.
Executive Engineer of Rural Works Department, Engineer Dhanik Lal Mandal, while giving information, said that the approach road was not being built due to dispute over private land, which has been acquired by the department after removing all the obstacles. The construction work of the approach road will be started after the rains. In the case of the bridge built on the Parman river at Khata Ghat in Jokihat, the Executive Engineer said that the construction work of the bridge was done in 2016 but the bridge was damaged due to the devastating flood in 2017.
After the bridge was damaged, the technical team inspected the bridge and did not find it suitable for vehicular movement. On which the department immediately constructed walls on both sides of the bridge to stop the movement of four-wheelers and other heavy vehicles, but every time the bridge is demolished by unwanted elements and vehicles are allowed to ply illegally, due to which this time the department has decided to construct an RCC wall. This bridge was built in 2016 at a cost of Rs 4 crore and got damaged in 2017 itself.
