Bhagalpur, 17 August (HS). The series of collapse of bridges in Bihar continues unabated. The latest case is of Ganga river located in Sultanganj of Bhagalpur district where the structure of the four-lane bridge under construction collapsed once again on Saturday.
There is an atmosphere of chaos due to this incident. It is being told that the super structure of pillar number 9 of the four-lane bridge under construction on Sultanganj Agwani Ganga river has collapsed once again. After the incident, this project of Bihar government has once again come under question. Because the company was claiming to start it in the next few months. In such a situation, if this bridge had been started, how big an accident could have happened.
Today at around 7:15 am, in just a few seconds, this bridge collapsed into the river. In a few minutes, the bridge being built at the cost of crores of rupees once again sank into the Ganga. The claims of development that the Nitish government has been making for years. The four-lane bridge being built on the Sultanganj-Agunavi Ganga river in Bhagalpur, Bihar, collapsed once again. This is the third incident of a bridge collapse. The first incident was on 30 April 2022, early in the morning, about 36 segments connecting pier number 4 and 6 collapsed like a pack of cards in a gust of wind. Then for the second time on 5 June 2023, at around 6 pm, several super structures connecting pier number 11, 12 and 13 fell into the river. This is the third incident in three years.
It is worth mentioning that the bridge being built on the Ganga river between Sultanganj and Agwani at a cost of 1750 crores is being constructed by SP Singhla Construction Company. The company said that it will open the bridge by next year.
