The International Criminal Tribunal for Bangladesh has begun investigating former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and nine others on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity. The charges against Sheikh Hasina relate to events that took place during a massive student movement against her government from July 15 to August 5. The complaint was filed against Sheikh Hasina Awami League general secretary, Eastern Road and Transport and Bridges Minister, Home Minister, other party leaders.

The petition also names the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League and its allies. The father of a ninth-grade student has filed this application. The students died during the anti-reservation protest.
