State Information Commissioner again summoned DFO of Hamirpur | News India

Hamirpur, August 14 (HS). State Information Commissioner Virendra Pratap Singh has again issued a notice and summoned the DFO of Hamirpur district for not providing information under RTI and violating the instructions of the Commission. This action has created a stir in the forest department.

Complainant and resident of Audera village, Ram Singh Rajput told that on July 6, 2023, information related to beats, forest guards, forest nurseries, details of maintenance of plants, contract workers, forest species and plantation etc. was sought from the Public Information Officer, District Divisional Forest Officer Office in six points. But on not getting the information even after the stipulated time, the complainant met the First Appellate Officer on August 7, 2023 and told the matter. Where on the instructions of the First Appellate Officer, incomplete and misleading information was provided by the Public Information Officer Hamirpur on October 10, 2023. After which, when the concealment of corruption by the Public Information Officer came to light, the complainant made a second appeal to the State Information Commissioner Lucknow on October 2023.

Whereas in the first hearing on 15 May 2024, the State Information Commissioner had given strict instructions to the Public Information Officer, District Divisional Forest Officer Hamirpur to provide correct information within 15 days. Even after two and a half months, the correct information was not given by the Public Information Officer. The orders of the Commission and the Right to Information Act were openly violated. The complainant alleged that even after the orders of the First Appellate Officer and the State Information Commissioner, DFO Hamirpur has been negligent by not providing the information. The Information Commission has sent a hearing notice for the second time and fixed the time of 16 August 2024.
