Varanasi, August 14 (HS). On the eve of Independence Day, on Wednesday evening, public establishments, commercial buildings, houses of the city including Banaras Railway Engine Factory (BARECA) administration building were illuminated with glittering lights. According to the Public Relations Officer of BARECA, BARECA administrative building has been decorated with tricolour lights, which has further enhanced the beauty of the building.
He said that the decoration has been done with fringes of the three colours of the Indian flag – saffron, white, and green. This scene looks very attractive and generates a feeling of patriotism. This decoration on the building looks even more beautiful with the lights at night, due to which the joy and pride of Independence Day is felt in the entire atmosphere.
On the other hand, intensive checking campaign was conducted at public places, hotels, bus stands and railway stations of the city. ACP Rohania Sanjeev Sharma, along with Manduadih police, conducted checking campaign in hotels of the area including Banaras station and during checking on roads, got the trunks of vehicles opened and searched. The checking campaign continued for a long time in urban police station areas. In hotels, police officers took information of the people staying with the register. At the railway station, suspicious people were searched along with their belongings. Due to the checking campaign of the police, a state of panic was seen among the drivers in the entire district. In view of the sensitivity of the district regarding Independence Day, high alert has been declared. Police commissioner has instructed all police station incharges and in-charge inspectors as well as outpost in-charges to visit their respective areas and keep an eye on the suspicious people.
