Dhaka: On the fifth day of taking charge of the interim government, Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus on Tuesday visited the Devi Dhakeshwari temple in Dhaka and met Hindus as Hindus took to the streets and protested after attacks on Hindus and temples in Sheikh Hasina's anti-government movement in Bangladesh. He assured the Hindus, “Give us a chance, everyone has equal rights in our country.” He also asked students to come forward to protect Hindus.

Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus was sworn in as chief prosecutor on Thursday. Thousands of Hindus protested on the streets of Dhaka last weekend after attacks on Hindus in Sheikh Hassi's anti-government movement. Now to pacify the Hindus, chief prosecutor Mohammad Yunus visited Dhaka's Aradhevi Dhakeshwari temple on Tuesday. Here he met the Hindu community. At this time, a delegation of five members of the Minority Rights Movement met Yunus and placed eight major demands before him.

Meanwhile, the interim government has set up a hotline, asking people to report any attacks on Hindu temples, churches or other religious places. Apart from this, Mohammad Yunus has also apologized for the attacks on Hindus and proposed a three-day holiday in the country during Durga Puja.

Since Dhakeshwari temple is considered the national temple of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, who reached the temple on Tuesday, called upon the agitating students to come forward to protect Hindus and asked the Hindus to have patience. He said that minorities including Hindus are also our brothers. Together we will contribute to the development of the country. We have to build a nation where we can live in peace.

Mohammad Yunus said that everyone has equal rights here. We are all equal and our rights are also equal. No one should discriminate between us. Help us. Be patient, think carefully and decide what we have been able to do and what we have not been able to do. Also criticize us if we fail.

Mohammad Yunus further said, to fulfill our democratic aspirations, we should come together not as Muslims, Hindus, Christians or Buddhists but as human beings. The rights of all have to be ensured. Actually all these problems have arisen due to the breakdown of the institutional system. This needs to be removed.
