Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple of Sadatwadi: Apart from India, there are many temples of Lord Shiva all over the world. Also, each of these temples has a different specialty. The miracles done in some temples become famous all over the world. Apart from this, there are also some mysterious temples here, whose secrets have not been revealed till date. Often people go to temples to seek blessings of God and get rid of their sorrows. For which people also offer offerings of flowers, fruits, gold, silver etc. But today we have to talk about a temple where devotees get rid of diseases by sweeping the temple.

Where is this temple located?

This temple is in a village called Sadatbari in Bahjoi of Moradabad and Sambhal district of the country's largest state Uttar Pradesh, which is called Pataleshwar Shiva Temple. Long queues of devotees are seen in this temple on Mondays, Shivaratri and in the month of Sawan to offer brooms to Lord Shiva.

History of Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple

It is said about the holy Shivling of Lord Bholenath seated in this temple that the base of this Shivling is in the abyss. Therefore this temple is known as the temple of Pataleshwar Mahadev. It is said that many attempts were made to uproot the Shiv Linga to test its depth but no one could move the holy Shiv Linga.

They climb with a broom and milk

Pataleshwar Temple is famous all over the country. The tradition of offering broom dipped in milk to Lord Shiva in this temple has been going on for centuries. People come from far and wide to offer broom in this temple. According to the local people, offering broom to Lord Shiva in this temple relieves skin diseases.

How did this tradition start?

It is said that centuries ago there was a merchant named Bhikhari Das who was suffering from skin disease. It did not get cured even after several treatments. Once he was going somewhere and on the way he felt thirsty, so he went to a nearby ashram to drink water. There he collided with a broom. It is said that his skin disease was cured as soon as the broom touched it.

This temple was built by a businessman

After getting rid of the skin disease, Bhikhari Das expressed his desire to give a lot of money to the sadhus living in the ashram. But the saints refused to take all this. They said that you should build a temple here with this money. After which the businessman built a Shiva temple there. This temple later came to be known as Sadat Bari Shiva Temple. After this, the tradition of offering brooms started here.

This fair is held twice a year

Pataleshwar Mahadev Shiva temple was established in 1902. A fair is also held twice a year in this temple. Near this temple complex, another temple similar to Pashupatinath temple is also established, which has five hundred and one Shivlingas.
