Washington: US Congressman Sri Thanedar has appealed to the Biden administration to intervene to save Hindus from the ongoing atrocities in Bangladesh and requested that all minorities in Bangladesh be granted temporary refugee status.
Mr. Thanedar, a member of the United States House of Representatives, in a letter to Foreign Minister Antony Billenken, referring to the 'systematic' atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, has said that these attacks have not stopped even after the formation of an interim government led by Muhammad Yusus after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh. In such a situation, it is the duty of America to support its government's efforts to control the ongoing riots there. The Biden administration will take all measures to protect Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh. He further said in the letter written on Friday, “People around the world, including my own constituency and state, have condemned this attack. When Congress reconvenes after the mid-term recess, we will know more about Bangladesh's failure to protect Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. But it is our duty to protect them in this time of crisis.”
