Bijnor, August 10 (HS). A 12-year-old student going to school on a bicycle on Ganj-Haldaur Road on Saturday died after being hit by a DCM. The police sent the body for postmortem and started investigating the case.
Chahat (12), son of Sheetal, a resident of village Chandanpura, was going to school on his bicycle on Saturday. A DCM (UP 14 CT 7414) hit the bicycle near village Chandanpura on Ganj-Haldaur Road. The student came under the DCM and was dragged for several meters. He died on the spot. On getting information about the incident, the family and hundreds of villagers gathered and blocked the road. Meanwhile, the driver fled leaving the DCM. Police from several police stations reached the spot, where police officials tried to convince the villagers.
After the assurance, the traffic jam on Chandpur Bijnor road which was several kilometers long was cleared. The police has sent the body for postmortem and has started searching for the absconding DCM driver.
