Israeli airstrike on Gaza: Gaza is being continuously bombed and airstrikes by Israel. More than 100 Palestinian civilians have been killed in recent airstrikes. Citing Palestinian news agency WAFA, Reuters reported that more than 100 people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli attack targeting a school housing displaced people in eastern Gaza.
Four schools were attacked in Gaza last week. On August 4, 30 people were killed and many others injured in an Israeli attack on two schools that serve as shelters for displaced people in Gaza City. Earlier, 17 people were killed in an Israeli attack on Hamama School in Gaza City. On August 1, 15 people were killed in an Israeli attack on Dalal al-Mughrabi School. Israel claims there are militants inside the compound that serves as a Hamas command control center.
On 7 October 2023, the Palestinian group Hamas launched an armed incursion from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel and attacked Israel. This was seen by Palestinians as the largest conflict in decades. Around 1,200 people were killed and many more taken prisoner. Israel responded and the conflict continues. Since then, Israel has continued to attack buildings in Gaza, including schools.
More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in the 10-month-long war in Gaza. Several rounds of ceasefire talks have been held in the war-torn coastal Palestinian areas, but no success has been achieved so far.
